    West London Postgraduate Medical School (WLPMS) is a “non for profit company” that was created in 2006 for providing Postgraduate Level Higher Education in the UK and abroad.

    WLPMS was founded by and is composed of numerous eminent UK medical professors and consultants from different UK hospitals and universities to work under a single tertiary education umbrella.

    The role of WLPMS is to be an academic service provider. Since 2006, it has been the sole academic service provider to the University of Buckingham Postgraduate Medical School.

    With the University of Buckingham, WLPMS started a 2 year postgraduate programme called Clinical MD in General Medicine. The Clinical MD offers fully structured and comprehensive clinical, hands on, postgraduate training in the UK mainly to international medical graduates.

    WLPMS organises and runs academic teaching, lectures, clinical training, hospital placements, and is responsible for drawing validated curricula and running examinations for the University of Buckingham Clinical MD programme.

    The Clinical MD is a level 8 UK postgraduate medical qualification. Quality Assurance Agency overseas that the standard of teaching administered remains top notch and peer reviewed.

    WLPMS is also responsible for selecting overseas doctors from all over the world for the Clinical MD, many with state sponsorship from their respective countries. The Clinical MD has postgraduate medical students from over 15 different countries.

    In the UK, WLPMS has been instrumental in signing up multiple UK hospitals with the University of Buckingham in order for the hospitals to provide clinical placements to international doctors.

    WLPMS has helped the University of Buckingham Postgraduate Medical School to become a recognised sponsor for full registration with the General Medical Council.

    WLPMS helps overseas doctors in obtaining further medical positions in various NHS hospitals all over the UK.

    WLPMS offers scholarships and bursaries to deserving international students.

    The WLPMS also publishes The West London Medical Journal.


    Professor Jayantha Arnold MBBS, MRCS, FRCP

    Postgraduate Dean, Clinical Medicine, Joint Director of the Clinical MD in General Internal Medicine

    Dr-ArnoldProfessor Jayantha Arnold is a senior consultant in Gastroenterology at London North West Healthcare NHS Trust. He trained in Gastroenterology at Kings College Hospital, London and in Cardiff.

    He has been Clinical Tutor for over 5 years at Ealing Hospital and was also the Training Programme Director in Gastroenterology for Northwest London for 3 years. Professor Arnold is a Regional Advisor in Gastroenterology for the Royal College of Physicians in London. He performs endoscopic procedures including biliary endoscopy at Ealing Hospital.

    Professor Arnold’s research interests include iron status in patients with inflammatory bowel disease and trigger factors for inflammatory bowel disease.

    Professor Rajat Mathur MBBS, MD, FRCP, PhD (Edin)

    rajatProfessor Rajat Mathur is senior consultant physician in respiratory medicine at London North West Healthcare NHS Trust and Royal College tutor at Ealing Hospital, London, with special interest, training and experience in sleep disorders.

    He trained in London (St Mary’s Hospital Medical School), Nottingham (University and City Hospitals) and Edinburgh (Scottish National Sleep Centre, Royal Infirmary, University of Edinburgh). His fellowship in sleep disorders at the Scottish National Sleep Centre led to numerous publications in the field of sleep and respiratory medicine and award of PhD in genetics of sleep apnoea from the University of Edinburgh in 1995.

    The West London Postgraduate Medical School also provides continuous professional development courses for registrars and consultants. These courses will be made available on this website, embedded with authorized access.

    The West London Postgraduate Medical School is based at the Postgraduate Medical Centre at Ealing Hospital and is a not-for-profit organisation.
